Disclosed is a water-absorbing sheet having such a structure that an absorption layer containing at least water-absorbing resin is sandwiched by two or more hydrophilic nonwoven fabrics and subjected to corrugated embossing (2) and linear embossing (4), wherein the branch structure of embossing formed by the corrugated embossing (2) and linear embossing (4) has a substantially Y-shape, non-embossed regions (W2, W2') are provided at the end of the water-absorbing sheet (1) in the longitudinal direction, and the ratio of embossed area of the water-absorbing sheet (1) to the total area thereof is 3-25%. Even a water-absorbing sheet includes extremely little pulp, the sheet is embossed into a specific shape, whereby a water-absorbing sheet exhibiting high liquid penetration rate without causing any leak can be provided.
