The X-ray imaging apparatus includes a movable X-ray emitter to emit X-rays to a subject, a movable X-ray detector to detect X-rays emitted from the X-ray emitter and change the X-rays into electric signals, an input unit to receive target position information regarding at least one of the X-ray emitter and the X-ray detector, and a controller to control movements of the X-ray emitter and the X-ray detector according to the input target position information.
