The object of the present invention is to provide a differentiation inhibiting agent which allows culture of a stem cell or an embryonic stem cell in an undifferentiated state without use of any feeder cell, a method for culturing using the same, a cell culture liquid using the same, and a cell prepared by culturing using this differentiation inhibiting agent. The present invention provides a differentiation inhibiting agent which comprises a low molecular weight compound, especially a tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative, as an active ingredient； a method for safely culturing a stem cell in large scale in undifferentiated state in the absence of feeder cell which comprises culturing a stem cell by using a tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative； a culture liquid for stem cells comprising a tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative； and a cell which is obtained by culture using a tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative as a differentiation inhibiting agent.본 발명의 목적은 줄기세포 또는 배아 줄기세포를, 피더 세포를 이용하지 않고 미분화인 상태로 배양시킬 수 있는 분화 억제제, 그것을 이용한 배양 방법, 그것을 이용한 배양액 및 이 분화 억제제를 이용해서 배양하여 제작된 세포를 제공하는 것이다. 본 발명에 의하면, 저분자 화합물, 특히 테트라히드로이소퀴놀린 유도체를 유효 성분으로 하는 줄기세포 분화 억제제, 테트라히드로이소퀴놀린 유도체를 이용해서 줄기세포를 배양함으로써 피더 세포 비존재하에서 대량이면서도 안전하게 미분화로 줄기세포를 배양하는 방법, 테트라히드로이소퀴놀린 유도체를 포함하는 줄기세포의 배양액, 테트라히드로이소퀴놀린 유도체를 분화 억제제로서 이용해서 배양, 제작된 세포가 제공된다.
