A nebuliser with a counter device (44) which aims to prevent the nebuliser from being opened before the container (3) therein has been sufficiently used or has been emptied thus, potential soiling of the nebulizer can be minimized and/or defined handling can be secured. The nebuliser comprises an insertable container (3) containing the fluid and the nebuliser can be opened for replacing the container (3). A counter device (44) counts operations of the nebuliser and is configured to, in use, block opening of the nebuliser until a predetermined number of operations has been reached or exceeded, and to permit the nebuliser to be opened when the predetermined number of operations has been reached or exceeded.
