PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath insertion apparatus capable of minimizing an influence which a sheath has on a brain region when inserting the sheath.SOLUTION: An expansion means 2 including a plurality of arm parts 3 with intermediate parts 3a shaped to swell outward in the radial direction of a sheath S, and inserted in the sheath S retractably from the sheath S is advanced/retreated from the sheath S.
