The control unit is configured to perform control, when generating the predetermined parallax number of parallax images from volume data that is three-dimensional medical image data, so as to change a parallactic angle between parallax images based on the shape of a subject portion and to display a predetermined parallax number of parallax images at the parallactic angle thus changed on the stereoscopic display device.
