A composition containing at least one compound selected from synthetic polysulfonated oligosaccharides having from 1 to 4 monosaccharide units, their salts and complexes, for use as a means for cleaning wounds. A composition according to claim 1, characterized in that said compound is selected from synthetic polysulfonated oligosaccharides having 1 or 2 monosaccharide units, preferably selected from pentoses and hexoses, as well as from salts and complexes of these compounds. The composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the compound is selected from: - potassium salt of sucrose octasulfate； - silver salt of sucrose octasulfate； - sucralfate. 4. A composition according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that said compound is combined with one or more other active substances to induce or accelerate healing, or which have a beneficial effect in the treatment of wounds.
