The extract may reduce joint degeneration and swelling. The leaves and stems may be ground and extracted in an aqueous ethanol solvent. The extract may be formulated into a pharmaceutical composition suitable for oral, rectal, nasal, pulmonary, buccal, sublingual, transdermal, intracisternal, intraperitoneal or parenteral administration, or formulated into a food or drink composition or product.
