Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to methods, devices and systems for reducing pigmentation of a patient's skin. In some embodiments, skin freezing may be desirable for the effect of reducing the pigmentation of the patient's skin. In general, embodiments may limit (or promote freezing) the supercooling of the patient's skin during the cooling procedure. In some embodiments, to improve the cooling procedure, a coupling fluid is provided to reduce the thermal contact resistance between the cooling treatment probe and the patient's skin. Optionally, a fluid carrier may be provided to assist in holding the binding fluid at the treatment site. In some embodiments, the cooling fluid may include an ice nucleating agent to promote ice crystal formation in the binding fluid during the cooling procedure.
