A lawn mower (10) having a base (12) and a motor that drives a cutting assembly. Grass is cut by the cutting assembly, with the grass being propelled along a channel (21) extending angularly beneath the base (12) of the lawn mower (10). An exit channel portion (22) provides for the delivery of grass to a rear opening (23) that communicates with a catcher. A flap (30) is pivotally mounted for movement between a first lowered position for delivery to the catcher and a second raised position directing the cut grass to continue along the channel (21) for repeated engagement with the cutting assembly to provide a mulching operation.
