The purpose of the present invention is to provide a cellulose particle which is a natural material and has a softness and excellent light scattering properties. Provided are: a particle which has a wrinkled or folded uneven surface structure and comprises cellulose or a cellulose derivative as a main component； and a method for producing the particle. This particle has a softness and excellent light scattering properties and, therefore, is useful in cosmetics.本發明之目的為提供屬於天然素材，柔軟且光散射性優異的纖維素粒子。本發明係提供在表面具有皺狀或襞狀的凹凸結構，包含纖維素或纖維素衍生物作為主成分之粒子，以及其製造方法。由於該種粒子係柔軟且光散射性優異，因而有用於作為化妝品。
