PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embolic substance excising/capturing device capable of excising an embolic substance within an arteriole without blocking the bloodstream, and securely capturing the excised substance.
SOLUTION: The device is for removing an embolic substance within a lumen of a living body. The device includes a long shaft member 1 having a distal end and a proximal end a filter member 5 disposed on the distal end side of the shaft member 1 and a coil member disposed on the proximal end side of the shaft member 1 from the filter member 5. The distal end of the shaft member 1 is fed out to the distal end of the lumen. The filter member 5 is engaged with the shaft member at binding parts on the distal end side and on the proximal end side. The filter member 5 is linearly contracted within a catheter for carrying the device as at least one of the binding parts on the distal end side and on the proximal end side is moved along the shaft member, and the filter member is expanded as the filter member is released into the lumen from the catheter. The coil member is engaged with the shaft member at coupling parts on the distal end side and on the proximal end side. At least one of the coupling parts on the distal end side and on the proximal end side is moved along the shaft member.
