This present invention relates to the use of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC), and more particularly, the use of highly purified eicosapentaenoic acid as free fatty acids (EPA-FFA) having a purity of at least 95% for reducing inflammation in a subject suffering from ulcerative colitis and wherein the levels of IL-10 and SOCS3 are increased and the microbiome of the intestinal mucosal tissue is favorably modulated.La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'acide eicosapentaénoïque (EPA) pour le traitement de la colite ulcéreuse (UC), et plus particulièrement l'utilisation d'acide eicosapentaénoïque hautement purifié en tant qu'acides gras libres (EPA-FFA) ayant une pureté d'au moins 95 % pour réduire l'inflammation chez un sujet souffrant de colite ulcéreuse, les taux d'IL-10 et de SOCS3 étant augmentés et le microbiome du tissu mucosal intestinal étant modulé favorablement.
