PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for determining the position and orientation of a catheter.SOLUTION: A catheter 102 for performing a medical operation on an organic lumen includes: an elongated member 108 a medical operational element 112 located at a distal end of the elongated member 108 an electromagnetic field detector 114 located at the distal end and a wiring for coupling the electromagnetic field detector 114 with a medical positioning system 106.
