An implantable mesh for use in tissue reconstruction includes a mesh body and one or more extensions extending from the mesh body. Each mesh extension has a first end and a second end, and the first end of the mesh extension is integrated into the mesh body or is part of the mesh body. Each mesh extension is configured to allow multiple locking points with surrounding tissue when implanted. In one embodiment, there is a fixation device at the second end of each mesh extension. A method of using an embedded mesh is also provided.
