PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly release and take up a fishing line.SOLUTION: The fishing reel includes: a first line guide attached to a fishing line guide body a second line guide which can hold the fishing line between the first line guide and the second line guide and a moving means for moving at least one of the line guides in the vertical direction. The first line guide has a fishing line guide surface 24c which extends in the lateral direction along an axis O1 of a spool 5 as seen from the front of the fishing line guide body and which is inclined downward toward a center part 24c in the lateral direction. The second line guide has a fishing line guide part 31 along the axis O1. When the fishing line is taken up, the fishing line is held in such a way that the fishing line can be taken up in the vertical direction by the fishing line guide surface 24c and the fishing line guide part 31, and the fishing line is guided, positioned and held to the center part 24c by the fishing line guide part 31.
