The invention relates to a begomovirus resistant plant of the species Cucumis melo, said plants comprising genetic element, incorporated by introgression, from a plant of the species Cucumis melo L. var. momordica (NCIMB 42557), which genetic element comprises a begomovirus-resistant-conferring QTL, or a begomovirus-resistant-conferring part thereof linked to at least one marker located on the chromosome equivalent to linkage group (LG) 5 of NCIMB 42557, wherein said plant is not NCIMB 42557. Particularly, the begomovirus is the Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV).
