PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclohexaneketone compound extracted from Antrodia camphorata useful for treating an autoimmune disease.
SOLUTION: Symptoms caused by an autoimmune disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus is effectively alleviated by a 4-hydroxy-2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-5(3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-trienyl)-2-cyclohexaneketone(4-hydroxy-2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-5(3,7,11-trimethyl-dodeca-2,6,10-trienyl)-cyclohex-2-enone) isolated from an extract from Antrodia camphorata. The cyclohexaneketone compound extracted from Antrodia camphorata helps reduce the amount of a urinary protein contained in urine and the concentration of an antinuclear antibody in blood of a mammal suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus, and thereby alleviates kidney inflammation and a kidney disease and reduces damage inflicted on its internal organ by an antinuclear antibody. Hence, an autoimmune disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus as well as a kidney disease can effectively be treated by virtue of a natural substance free from an adverse side effect.
