The present invention relates to a strain of Lactobacillus reuteri CH53 producing 1,3-propanediol from glycerol at a high yield and use thereof. The strain of Lactobacillus reuteri CH53 of the present invention has been identified to be able to transform glycerol or waste glycerol at a high yield into 1,3-propanediol at a high concentration. According to the present invention, the strain of Lactobacillus reuteri CH53 is a strain of Lactobacillus, which is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). When the strain of Lactobacillus reuteri CH53 is applied to produce 1,3-propanediol by using waste glycerol, unlike a conventional GMO strain, the strain of Lactobacillus reuteri CH53 is safe, can provide the environmental considerations or merits of recycling and reusing of resource, and thus is very useful for related industries.본 발명은 글리세롤로부터 1,3-프로판디올을 고생산하는 락토바실러스 루테리 CH53 균주 및 이의 용도에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 락토바실러스 루테리 CH53 균주는 글리세롤 또는 폐글리세롤을 고농도의 1,3-프로판디올로 매우 높은 수율로 전환할 수 있는 점을 확인하였다. 따라서, 본 발명에 따른 1,3-프로판디올 고생산 유산균 락토바실러스 루테리 CH53 균주는 인체에 안전한 균주(GRAS, Generally Recognized As Safe)인 유산균의 일종으로, 이를 이용하여 폐글리세롤을 1,3-프로판디올 생산에 활용한다면 기존의 GMO 균주와 달리 안전하면서 환경적인 측면이나, 자원의 재순환 활용이라는 이점을 제공할 수 있어 관련 산업에 매우 유용하다.
