The present invention relates to a live attenuated African horsesickness virus, (family Reoviridae, genus Orbivirus), a method of producing and using such a virus, a vaccine and an immunisation kit including such a virus in which the genome of the virus has been altered such that the expression of the non-structural protein 4 (NS4) as a wild type or complete protein is eliminated.
