An image pickup system includes an endoscope 10 including an image pickup device 13 configured to pick up an image of an object, a storing section 19 provided in the endoscope 10 and configured to store light source control parameters corresponding to a type of the image pickup device 13, a light source apparatus 40 to which the endoscope 10 is connected, the light source apparatus 40 including an LED 43 configured to supply illumination light to the object, and a control section 41 provided in the light source apparatus 40 and configured to read out the light source control parameters from the storing section 19, set the read-out light source control parameters as control parameters used in a control sequence, control, on the basis of a predetermined control sequence, an emission form of the illumination light emitted from the LED 43.
