The signal samples received from the ultrasound transducer array of the ultrasound transducer based imaging system can be processed or adjusted by applying one or more weight functions. In some embodiments, one or more weight functions may be applied to the time domain signal samples. In other embodiments, signal samples can be converted to the frequency domain, and one or more weight functions can be applied in the frequency domain. In a further embodiment, one or more weight functions can be applied in the time domain and one or more weight functions can be applied in the frequency domain. The weight function may be channel dependent and / or channel independent.
