To provide a composition and a method for forming pores in situ within a hydrogel following injection of the hydrogel.SOLUTION: A composition comprises a first hydrogel and a second hydrogel, wherein the first hydrogel degrades at least 10% faster than the second hydrogel and either the first hydrogel or the second hydrogel comprises an isolated cell. Pores that are formed in situ via degradation of sacrificial porogens within the surrounding hydrogel facilitate recruitment or release of the cell.
