PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grafting method and a grafting device each enabling reliable joint of the stalk of a rootstock and the stalk of a scion with sufficient strength. SOLUTION: The grafting device 1 is provided with a workpiece set station 11, a first workpiece cut station 12, a second workpiece cut station 13, a tube fitting station 14, a tube depressing station 15 and a workpiece takeout station 16. At the tube installation station 14, a C-shape cross-sectional tube 43 is fitted to a rootstock 7 and a scion 9 whose respective stalks are in contact with each other in a coaxial condition. In the tube depressing station 15, depressing power acting so as to narrow the space of the clearance part of the C-shape cross-sectional surface tube 43 is added to the C-shape cross-sectional tube 43 to cause plastic deformation on the C-shape cross-sectional tube 43 so that the inner peripheral surface of the C-shape cross-sectional tube 43 and the stalks of the rootstock 7 and the scion 9 are closely contact to one another.
