Provided is an illuminating unit for an endoscope, said illuminating unit having high emission intensity without increasing the diameter thereof. The illuminating unit is configured of a protection cover (11), a sleeve, a fluorescent body (13), a ferrule (15), and an optical fiber (16). A fluorescent body holding section (22) is formed at a leading end of the ferrule (15), and a metal reflecting film (14) is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the fluorescent body holding section (22). Blue laser light is radiated to the fluorescent body (13) from the leading end of the optical fiber (16), and pseudo white light is obtained by mixing the blue laser light and fluorescent body excitation light. The fluorescent body (13) is configured in a substantially columnar shape, and when an output diameter thereof is represented by D1, a thickness of the protection cover (11) is represented by t1, and an effective diameter of the protection cover is represented by D2, the following formulas are satisfied: 0.7 mm≤D1≤0.9 mm, 0.4 mm≤t1≤0.59 mm, and 1.3 mm≤D2≤1.5 mm. The thickness (t1) of the protection cover (11), and the output diameter (D1) of the fluorescent body (13) can be specified for the purpose of configuring the illuminating unit compact without deteriorating output light efficiency.Linvention concerne une unité déclairage pour endoscope, ladite unité déclairage ayant une intensité démission élevée sans augmenter son diamètre.
