The present invention pertains generally to the field of topical medical therapy, cosmetics, and toiletries. More specifically, the invention relates to the use of a solvent comprising (R)-1,2-propanediol for cooling agents, for example, (R)-2-[((1fl,2S,5R)-2-isopropyl- 5-methyl-cyclohexanecarbonyl)-arnino]-propionic acid n-propyl ester (CPS-410). The invention also relates to cooling agent compositions comprising a cooling agent and,2-propanediol, and methods for their preparation. The invention also relates to the use of such cooling agent compositions in therapy, for example, in the treatment of sensory discomfort, especially sensory discomfort of the skin (e.g., itch).
