A powered wheelchair (910) configured to reposition an occupant between a lowered and a raised position includes a frame (14), a seat (922) moveable relative to the frame (14), a drive wheel (32), a lift mechanism (18) and one or more pairs of arm assemblies (938). The arm assembly (938) includes a wheel (46) configured to move from a first spatial location when the wheel chair (910) is operating on flat, level ground to a second spatial location that is different than the first spatial location. Arm limiters (970) can selectively engage the arm assembly (938) based on at least one of a seat position, position of the arm assembly (938) and surface conditions of ground surface. The arm limiters (970) can limit the range of motion of the arm assembly (938) and sometimes other operational aspects of the chair (910). A linkage assembly (950) operatively connects the lift mechanism (18) to the arm limiter (970) such that as the seat (922) is moved between the lowered and raised positions, the linkage assembly (950) causing the arm limiter (970) to transition between the first and second configurations.
