PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod body for a fishing rod, the rod body facilitating the securing of a stable strength and a good beautiful appearance, and to provide a fishing rod provided with the same.SOLUTION: A rod body includes a body layer formed in a tubular shape from a prepreg. The body layer includes a front and rear different shape section consisting of: a first region 40 located in the front side, whose cross-sectional shape is a first shape a second region 42 located in the rear side, whose cross-sectional shape is a second shape different from the first shape and a shift region 41 located between the first region 40 and the second region 42, and having a cross-sectional shape gradually varying from the first shape to the second shape from the front side toward the rear side.
