The present invention relates to a composition containing a saeujeot extract as an active ingredient for preventing or treating radiation syndrome, more specifically, to a composition for preventing or treating radiation syndrome and a food composition for mitigating radiation syndrome, containing a saeujeot extract as an active ingredient. The method of the present invention can be used to provide a composition and a food composition for preventing or treating radiation syndrome, containing the saeujeot extract as an active ingredient and provide a composition for suppressing chromosome mutation caused by radiation and a composition for maintaining chromosome stability.
