PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adapt a communication function of a portable information terminal to communication functions of a position detection device and a corridor light which have different detection ranges but have the same protocols, and detect a position of a medical/nursing employee on the basis of an ID held by the position detection device or the corridor light which communicates with the portable information terminal, in order to manage work being performed by the medical/nursing employee.SOLUTION: In a nurse call system, a position detection device 5 comprises a detection device radio communication unit 52 which performs radio communication within a first detection range preset for detecting a position of a medical/nursing employee carrying a portable information terminal 4. A corridor light 2 comprises a corridor light radio communication unit 26 which performs radio communication by the same protocol as the communication protocol of the detection device radio communication unit 52 within a second detection range smaller than the first detection range.
