PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the kind of an electronic endoscope installed in a processor by a simple constitution.SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope system has an electronic endoscope, and the processor which has a signal processing means and to which the electronic endoscope is detachable. The electronic endoscope has a plurality of digital signal lines connected to the signal processing means of the processor, and the plurality of digital signal lines are fixed to two levels wherein the respective levels when there is no signal are different. Also, the combination of the levels of these sinal lines are different according to the kind of the electronic endoscope, and the signal processing means has a determination part for determining the kind of the electronic endoscope based on the combination of the levels of the plurality of digital signal lines of the electronic endoscopes installed in the processor.
