A hair treatment composition comprising (A) an alicyclic polyol and (B) an alkylpolysiloxane modified with hydroxyl at the ends and wherein the alicyclic polyol (A) is particularly preferably inositol and the alklypolysiloxane (B) is particularly preferably dimethiconol and a method for the treatment of hair by applying the hair treatment composition to damaged hair. According to the invention, excellent conditioning effect due to the silicone derivative is attained and the effect is inhibited from deterioration due to the accumulation of the derivative ON the hair and while the strength of hair is improved.
