The present invention relates to the design of a customized therapy for a subject having breast cancer based on the c-MAF expression level and postmenopausal condition in the subject. In some embodiments, the personalized therapy comprises an agent that avoids, treats or prevents bone degradation. In some embodiments, the agent that avoids, treats or prevents bone degradation is zoledronic acid.
