The invention relates to a method for detecting objects (9) in an environmental region (8) of a motor vehicle (1), wherein by means of a detecting device (4) of the motor vehicle (1) first sensor data describing the environmental region (8) in the visible wavelength range, and second sensor data describing the environmental region (8) in the infrared wavelength range, are provided and the object (9) is detected on the basis of the first sensor data and/or the second sensor data, wherein the object (9) is classified as a static object or as a dynamic object on the basis of the first sensor data and/or the second sensor data and if the object (9) is classified as a static or a dynamic object, it is verified on the basis of the second sensor data, whether the object is a plant (11).
