PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position regulating member with an end section of the position regulating member sufficiently lengthened from a position where the movement of a contained object in the radial direction is maximum (the minimum curvature radial position where the curvature of a bending section is minimum), passing through a rear connection section to connect the bending section and a flexible section and extended to a position located on the flexible section side, and without increasing the filling rate and without increasing the resistance against the movement of the contained object in the axial direction even if the tube wall of an insertion tube is thickened in the rear connection section to reduce the inner diameter of the tube.
SOLUTION: The insertion tube of an endoscope is composed of a distal end hard section, a flexible section, and the bending section disposed between the distal end hard section and the flexible section. The insertion tube has the position regulating member within the bending section for regulating movement of the contained object in the radial direction. In the insertion tube, one end of the position regulating member passes through the rear connection section to connect the bending section and the flexible section and extends to the flexible section side. The cross-sectional shape of the position regulating member inserted into the flexible section side from the rear connection section is smaller than the maximum cross-sectional shape of the position regulating member inside the bending section.
