PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neovascularization inhibitor that can be safely and easily administered over a long period of time and a food and drink composition for inhibiting neovascularization.SOLUTION: A neovascularization inhibitor contains a protein polysaccharide of a (1&rarr；6)-&bgr；-D-glucan with a glucan:protein ratio of 55:43 [w/w] as an active ingredient which is obtained by being extracted with a 5 w% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution from a residue obtained by extracting and removing water-soluble polysaccharides from the fruiting body of Agaricus blazei Murrill (Himematsutake), and a food and drink composition for inhibiting neovascularization contains the protein polysaccharide of a (1&rarr；6)-&bgr；-D-glucan.【課題】 長期に亙って安全且つ簡便に投与し得る血管新生阻害剤及び血管新生阻害用飲食組成物の提供。【解決手段】 アガリクス・ブラゼイ・ムリル（ヒメマツタケ）子実体から水溶性多糖類を抽出除去した残渣から、5w%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液を用いて抽出することにより得られる、グルカン：タンパク＝55:43[w/w]の(1→6)-β-D-グルカンの蛋白多糖体を有効成分とする血管新生阻害剤、および、その(1→6)-β-D-グルカンの蛋白多糖体を含有する血管新生阻害用飲食組成物。【選択図】 なし
