An improved aqueous organ preservation solution is provided, which comprises taurine and L-alanine-L-glutamine and glutamic acid. It was found that the combination of these compounds can advantageously be used in such compositions. The organ preservation composition can be stored in a solid state, for example in the form of small particles (e.g. a powder or micronized powder), and be dissolved in water, thereby instantly providing a ready- to-use organ preservation solution.
