In a method for crosslinking polymer(s) (I) selected from polysaccharides and their derivatives by reaction with a crosslinking agent (II) in a aqueous medium, (I) is used in the form of a mixture of polymer(s) (IL) of low molecular weight and polymer(s) (IH) of high molecular weight. Independent claims are included for: (a) the crosslinked polymers (I) obtained by the process； (b) the preparation of a single-phase, injectable hydrogel (A) of crosslinked (I), involving crosslinking (I) in the form of a mixture of (IL) and (IH) as described above, then formulating the mixture (after neutralization if necessary) in a solution buffered to pH 6.5-7.5 (especially 7.1-7.3)； and (c) the injectable hydrogels (A) obtained as above.
