PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face direction determination device capable of executing a preprocessing for selecting an appropriate process in a short period of time.
SOLUTION: A characteristic point detecting microcomputer 133 selects a first state detection process for detecting the positions of both eyes based on a face image capturing a users face including his/her both eyes, or a second state detection process for detecting the position of one eye based on a face image including only either the right or left eye, based on a comparison result of the face direction angle detected by a face direction detecting microcomputer 132 and a predetermined angle threshold.
