A perfume composition is described which is a suitable replacement in perfumery applications for the compound 2-(2,4-dimethycyclohex-3-en-1-y)-5-methyl-5-(1-methylpropyl)-1,3-dioxane, also known as karanal. The composition comprises at least one primary perfume ingredient selected from the group consisting of (1R,3S,6S)-1-(2,2,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexyl)-3-hexanol, (1S,3S,6R)-1-(2,2,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexyl)-3-hexanol, isomers of octahydro-2,2,5,8,8,9a-hexamethyl-4H-4a,9-methanoazuleno[5,6-d]-1,3-dioxole, isomers of 2-(tetramethyltricyclo[6.2.1.0]undec-4/5-en-5-yl)propanol and isomers of decahydro-2,6,6,7,8,8-heptamethyl indenofuran.
