<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which includes a surface sheet for improving liquid diffusing property and absorbing property, and effectively preventing the return of body liquid, and which is full of cubic effect and has a high cushion property. <；P>；SOLUTION: The surface sheet 3 is composed of the nonwoven fabric of a double-layer structure having an upper layer and a lower layer, and has relation where the fineness of the upper layer nonwoven fabric 3A is larger than the fineness of the lower layer nonwoven fabric 3B. Recessed parts 8 and projecting parts 7 are alternately and adjacently formed by applying embosses in a prescribed pattern to the surface sheet； the recessed parts 8 are the high density area of a relatively high fiber density, and the projecting parts 7 are a low density area of a relatively low fiber density.
