The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition containing a granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) as an active ingredient for regenerative treatment of cartilage damage. More specifically, the GM-CSF is at least one selected from the group consisting of a GM-CSF full-length gene, a GM-CSF gene subdomain, proteins expressed by the genes, and cells transformed to express the genes. In addition, the composition is administered by treating the transplant at the time of bone marrow transplantation (BMT) or stem cell transplantation. Therefore, the GM-CSF is expected to be applicable as a regenerative treatment agent of damaged cartilage.본 발명은 과립구 대식세포-콜로니 자극 인자(granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor； GM-CSF)를 유효성분으로 포함하는 연골손상 재생 치료용 약학 조성물에 관한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로 상기 GM-CSF는 GM-CSF 전장 유전자, GM-CSF 유전자 절편(subdomain), 상기 유전자들로부터 발현되는 단백질 및 상기 유전자들을 발현하도록 형질전환된 세포로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나 이상인 것을 특징으로 한다. 또한, 상기 조성물은 골수이식술 (bone marrow transplantation； BMT) 또는 줄기세포이식술 (stem cell transplantation) 시술 시 이식물에 처리하여 투여되는 것을 특징으로 한다. 따라서 상기 이를 통해 상기 GM-CSF는 손상된 연골의 재생 치료제로 응용 가능할 것으로 보인다.
