PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation film, which is excellent in productivity, adhesiveness, planarity, wear resistance, and handling property in a thin film state and which has optical characteristics suitable for optical compensation of a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A retardation film includes: a support; an acrylic resin layer; an intermediate layer containing a principal component of the support and a principal component of an acrylic resin layer, between the support and the acrylic resin layer; and a retardation layer, directly on a surface of the acrylic resin layer at an opposite side to the intermediate layer, in which an alignment state of a liquid crystal compound is fixed. The support contains at least one kind of resin selected from cellulose acylate resin, cyclic olefin resin, polycarbonate resin, acrylic resin, and styrene resin. The acrylic resin layer contains acrylic resin having a polar group. The intermediate layer has thickness of 0.1 μm or more and 10 μm or less. T
