The invention relates to continuous operation equipment for separating fine foreign materials heavier than water in a flow of liquid. The invention can be widely used for removing sand from a liquid in beet-sugar, starch, other production operations, where there is a necessity to separate the sand-type foreign materials from conveyer-washing water.A sand catcher consists of a semicylindrical body, in which a shaft with a drive, spouts for supplying a mixture and discharging the treated water is mounted, and of an unloading mechanism of heavy foreign materials.According to the invention, in the centre of the semicylindrical body a radial hollow is made, in said hollow the unloading mechanism is arranged. The latter is made as a bladed wheel, rigidly fixed on the shaft, on which discharging buckets for unloading sediments, made as perforated blades, are arranged radially around the perimeter, and the tape coils of a screw, fixed to the shaft, are made. The direction of the coils on the side of supplying the mixture to the radial hollow of the semicylindrical body coincides with the moving direction of the mixture and on the side of discharging to the radial hollow of the semicylindrical body the direction of the coils of the screw is countercurrent to movement of the mixture.The technical result of the use of the proposed sand catcher lies in a possibility of improving the effectiveness of catching the foreign materials of the water on the account of control catching of the foreign materials of the water, from which the basic mass of heavy foreign materials is already removed.Such an equipment can be used as a preliminary catcher of the heaviest and abrasive foreign materials from the conveyer-washing water, what will contribute to improving the operation of sediment chambers, reducing equipment wearing (for example, of the blades of pumps and pipelines along which such a mixture is transportated to the sediment chambers or onto filtration fields), allowing reducing t
