A spacing partition including a pivoted robotic arm with a cluster of teat cups for milking cows is described. The partition seek to expedite the milking times by automatically attaching the teat cups to the udder, or at least positioning the cups below the udder for subsequent manual attachment. Dividers (4), when placed in series, form a battery of stalls for milking. Once cows are in the stalls, the arm (10) extends such that the cluster (5) is beneath the udder of the cow and is then attached to the teats of the cow either manually or automatically.
