To provide a ventilating device where integration of a valve section allows fast maneuvers, measurement and adjustment during the ventilation and makes it possible to take into account moisture and hygienic requirements in a module.SOLUTION: A patient module 10 regulated for use in ventilating a patient allows a pressure source 24 to be fluidically coupled to a patient interface 26, which can be connected to the airways of a patient. The patient module includes a housing 12, a valve section in the housing, and an HME filter 30 separated from the valve section. The HME filter is located upstream of the valve section in relation to an expiratory volume flow, so that the HME filter divides an interior of the housing into a dry area and an area coming into contact with the moisture entrained by the exhaled breathing gas.
