The present invention provides a composition for promoting growth that can favorably promote the growth of microorganisms belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium that inhabit the intestines of mammals such as humans. According to the present invention, by containing one or more selected from the group consisting of lacto-N-tetraose, lacto-N-neotetraose and derivatives thereof, the genus Bifidobacterium A composition for promoting the growth of microorganisms to which the microorganism belongs can be provided.
