An implantable bioprosthesis comprises: an implantable consisting essentiallyof aplurality of NDGA polymerized collagen fibers, wherein the NDGA polymerizedcollagenfibers have a tensile strength that is between about 180 and about 350 MPa andare arrangedinto bundles of substantially parallel fibers, with each of the bundlescomprising at least twoNDGA polymerized collagen fibers, wherein the bundles are braided or woven orbraided andwoven together, and wherein the construct has a tensile strength, stiffnessand dynamicflexibility that meets or exceeds that of a pre-injury natural ligament ortendon.
