PURPOSE: Sand for pet cats and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to minimize dust generated in the use of sand for pet cats, to prevent various diseases induced by the dust, and to offer pleasant surrounding environment. CONSTITUTION: Sand for pet cats comprises a main material composed of zeolite in the form of powder, a supplementary material composed of bentonite and montmorillonite, and an additive composed of baking soda and cellulose, which are mixed, kneaded, rolled, and dried to take a granular form. The main material is the mixture of a first material which is made by mixing 30 wt% zeolite in the form of powder and 5 wt% water to take a granular form with a size of 1 to 2 mm； and 40 wt% of the second material which is composed of crushed zeolite in a granular form with a size of 1 to 2 mm. The supplementary material is the mixture of 5 wt% bentonite in a granular form and 15 wt% montmorillonite. The additive is the mixture of 3% baking soda, 2 wt% cellulose, and 5 wt% polyacrylamide.본 발명은 애완용으로 고양이를 사육함에 있어서, 발생되는 대,소변 등의 분비물을 간편·용이하게 처리할 수 있도록 함은 물론, 대,소변에 의한 악취 탈취, 항균, 음이온, 원적외선 등의 기능성이 부각된 애완용 모래 및 이를 제조하기 위한 제조방법에 관한 것이다.본 발명은 분말상태의 제올라이트로 이루어진 주원료와, 벤토나이트와 백토로 이루어진 보조원료와, 베이킹소다 및 셀룰로우즈로 이루어진 첨가제가 혼합 및 반죽, 롤링, 건조되어 입상으로 구성된 애완용 모래에 있어서, 상기 주원료는 분말상태의 제올라이트 30중량%에 5중량%의 수분을 혼합 믹싱하여 1~2mm크기를 갖는 입상의 1차 원료와, 파쇄된 1~2mm 크기 입자형태의 입상의 제올라이트로 이루어진 2차 원료 40중량%로 혼합 구성되고, 상기 보조원료는 분말상태의 벤토나이트 5중량%와 백토 15중량%로 혼합 구성되며, 상기 첨가제는 베이킹소다 3중량%, 셀룰로우즈 2중량%, 또는 폴리아크릴아미드(polyacrylamide) 5중량%로 혼합 구성된 것이다
