A cleaning instrument for an endodontic procedure such as a root canalprovides a distalportion for agitating an irrigant, comprising in some embodiments agitatingstructuresthat stir the irrigant to assist in removing the smear layer and dislodgingloosely adheredorganic debris. The agitating structures may also be designed to assist inevacuatingirrigant from the canal. Some embodiments provide orifices through which anirrigatingfluid can traverse the distal portion of the instrument and enter the canal towash awayloosened debris and sterilize the canal.
